Indigenous Storytelling Month 2024

JANUARY 29, 2024— Since 2004, Library Services for Saskatchewan Aboriginal Peoples (LSSAP) has coordinated Saskatchewan Indigenous Storytelling Month. Through the month of February, storytelling events are held by libraries and their partners in communities throughout Saskatchewan.

The Regina Public Library, in partnership with Regina Public and Catholic Schools, invites teachers and their students to participate in online Indigenous storytelling sessions during February.

For the public, the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild is offering online events via Zoom during the four Wednesdays in February from noon until 1:00 p.m.

  • “Wordsongs of a Warrior” by Rita Bouvier will be held on February 7th.
  • “What Do Our Traditional Stories Tell Us?” by Solomon Ratt will be held on February 14th.
  • “Underneath the Myth of Canadian History” by Michelle Good will be held on February 21st.
  • “Reclaiming Storytelling” by Mika Lafond will be held on February 28th.
