October 4-2023 -- Students, staffs and administration from four North Regina schools gathered with Provincial, municipal and school board government to break ground on the new North Regina joint-use school.
Premier Scott Moe and Minister of Education Jeremy Cockrill joined Mayor Sandra Masters and Regina Board Chair Sarah Cummings Truszkowski and Catholic Board Chair Shauna Weninger for the event, which was hosted at Imperial Community School, the site of the new school. The new joint-use school will replace the existing Imperial and McDermid Community Schools, as well as St. Michael and St. Peter Catholic Schools. The new facility is tentatively scheduled to open in the 2025-26 school year and will also include a community centre.
Students and staff from Imperial and St. Michael participated in the ceremony. Also in attendance were Gene Makowsky, Minister of Social Services, and Noor Burki, MLA for Regina Coronation Park.
At the event, Sarah Cummings Truszkowski also launched the Name Your School campaign. This campaign will provide suggestions for a name for the new Regina Public school. Read more details here.
