September 6, 2022 -- The following letter was shared with all school families and staff today. Read the letter below, or click on the pdf version.
Dear School Families:
Today, we welcomed students back to class with heavy hearts. All of Saskatchewan is mourning the loss of the lives this past weekend. Our heartfelt thoughts go to the individuals, families and communities touched by this unthinkable violence. All Regina Public Schools flags will be flown at half-mast for 10 days to honour the lives lost.
Over the past several days, Regina Public Schools has worked closely with our partners at the Regina Police Service on this quickly evolving situation.
As with any potential threat in our communities, we take steps to ensure that our school safety procedures are followed. This is the case today. While Regina Police inform us that there is no significant reason to alter operations, our staff will continue to be mindful and alert about any real or potential safety risks.
Thank you for your continued understanding and partnership with us. We will continue to keep you informed whenever there are issues relating to your children, your families, and our schools.
Sincerely,
Darren Boldt
Director of Education
