Lacey Weekes is the Regina Board of Education Vice-Chairperson and trustee for Subdivision 7.
Lacey grew up on a Farm east of Biggar, Saskatchewan, where she spent most of her childhood outdoors. She has a passion for conservation and outdoor education. She has both a degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Regina and a diploma in Resource Management from Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Besides her Board responsibilities, Lacey is the Conservation and Education Manager with Nature Saskatchewan. With over a decade of experience delivering outdoor education, she has worked with many Regina Public schools.
Since becoming a trustee in 2020, Lacey has chaired the Organizational Culture and Diversity Committee as well as the Policy, Governance and Sustainability Committee. Through this work, the Board has passed motions regarding observing Black History Month, anti-racism and diversity training for all employees, as well as creating a climate action plan and ensuring supports for land-based learning.
Lacey cares deeply about creating safe and equitable learning spaces for all students. She also believes in the importance of reconciliation, including the provision of land-based learning opportunities.
In her spare time, Lacey volunteers on the Regina Car Share Co-operative Board and loves to explore green spaces in and round Regina with her partner Nick and four children.
