September 10, 2024--Get ready for two new elementary schools and a new high school!
On August 6, 2024, Minister of Education Jeremy Cockrill and SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister Terry Jenson gathered with Mayor Sandra Masters and representatives of Regina Public and Regina Catholic schools to announce the location and preliminary work begun on a new Harbour Landing West joint-use school. The 4.45-hectare school site is at the corner of Gordon Road and Campbell Street in southwest Regina.
“Since the opening of Harbour Landing School in 2017, we have seen the unprecedented growth of this community and the significant need for an additional school,” Regina Board of Education Chairperson Sarah Cummings Truszkowski said. “As the saying goes, ‘It takes a village to raise a child.’ Similarly, building a new school takes a whole community and multiple levels of government. We are grateful for the parents and ratepayers of this community who have been unequivocal in their call for a second school. We are also thankful to our partners at the Government of Saskatchewan, City of Regina and Regina Catholic Schools for helping us build towards more much-needed classrooms in southwest Regina.”
The new joint-use facility will accommodate up to 500 Regina Public Schools students and up to 350 Regina Catholic Schools students. In addition, the facility will provide 90 new childcare spaces.

On September 9, 2024, the same group of provincial, civic and school division governments and representatives gathered in a vacant field in The Towns neighbourhood in southeast Regina to announce a new joint-use elementary school and a long-awaited joint-use high school.
The joint-use elementary school will accommodate a total of 1,400 students, with 800 spots allocated for Regina Public Schools and 600 spaces for Regina Catholic Schools. The high school will be in the same neighbourhood and is being designed to accommodate up to 2,000 students. The school facility will provide 180 additional childcare spaces.
“As enrolment grows, Regina Public Schools families will welcome this announcement,” Regina Board of Education Chairperson Sarah Cummings Truszkowski said. “A new elementary and a new high school in The Towns will benefit public education in southeast Regina.”
