September 26, 2025—Trustees, administration, family and friends gathered to celebrate and congratulate the 2024-25 Shared Values Recognition Program (SVRP) recipients. The ceremony on September 25th marked the 17th annual event and was held at the Conexus Arts Centre.

Emceeing was Regina Board of Education Trustee Cindy Anderson. She spoke about the achievements of all the recipients, as well as the history of the Shared Values Recognition Program. Assisting her on stage was Trustee Tracey McMurchy, who handed out the award plaques to the recipients. The SVRP recipients this year included 10 honourees.

Please note the job responsibilities were as of the 2024-25 school year, when this year’s honourees were nominated.

September 24, 2025 -- Regina Public’s newest school celebrated its grand opening with a plaque unveiling on September 24, 2025. The Minister of Education Everett Hindley and the Minister of SaskBuilds and Procurement Dave Marit, along with Mayor Chad Bachynski and Regina Board of Education Trustee Cindy Anderson, brought greetings at this long-awaited event.

The day started with a pipe ceremony before classes at 8 a.m. Principal and emcee Danielle Istace began the formal event at 10 a.m. with a land acknowledgement and then introduced The Willow Warriors, a women’s Indigenous choir, who sang and drummed two songs. Elder Garvin Bird then said a few words before the formal speaking commenced.

SEPTEMBER 24, 2025—Orange Shirt Day, observed on September 30th, is a powerful reminder of the injustices faced by Indigenous children in Canada through the residential school system. It is a day of truth and reconciliation, encouraging all Canadians to learn about this dark chapter in history and to honour the survivors and those who never returned home. Wearing an orange shirt symbolizes the loss of culture, identity and childhood experienced by so many. By taking time to reflect and educate ourselves, we acknowledge the resilience of Indigenous communities and commit to meaningful change. Learning is a vital step toward healing, and September 30th offers an opportunity to listen, reflect and move forward together in the spirit of reconciliation.
