On November 22^nd and 30^th, the Regina Public School Division Office was filled with excited students from Grades 5-7 who came to learn about peer mediation and left with the skills to be conflict managers on their school primary playgrounds.

Agribition was a huge success this year with 195 classes and 5,316 students and teachers from Regina Public Schools attending over five days in November.

Community never stays the same; it is constantly changing and evolving, and because of this, we recognize that many of our families are also constantly changing and evolving. Family and community engagement equals belonging, understanding, education and strength.

Thursday, November 22^nd was a very special evening at École Elsie Mironuck Community School. In collaboration with over 15 community agencies, the school staff hosted 175 people (40 families) and community members at a Community Engagement Night to support and promote the wonderful services that families can access throughout our city and community.

The SCC Forum with Trustees was held on the evening of November 20th at F.W. Johnson Collegiate. There were more than 140 people in attendance, including SCC members, principals and vice-principals, Division Office staff and trustees.

Chairperson Katherine Gagne brought opening remarks and welcomed everyone to the forum. Director Greg Enion shared information on the “big rocks” and the Education Sector Strategic Plan, and Dr. Debbie Pushor, professor from the University of Saskatchewan, gave a presentation on parent engagement. Four break-out sessions were formed prior to the forum and attendees registered and chose their preference of session. Sessions were led by principals and vice-principals, and note takers were also assigned to each group to gather discussion points.

This past month, students in Albert Community School’s Grades 1/2 class received a new classroom library. Over 500 new, culturally relevant,age-appropriate books were donated, along with a cozy new reading space. This classroom library was made possible by United Way Regina, Access Children’s Fund and the South Saskatchewan Community Foundation.

On July 27th, the Government of Saskatchewan announced a new early learning pilot program for preschool-aged children who are deaf and hard of hearing or connected to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities.

The program will be delivered through a partnership with the Saskatchewan Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services and Regina Public Schools.
